Today I watched Emeril Legasse cook a gluten-free, New Orleans-style meal on TV! I love to watch cooking shows, but get particularly excited when I don’t have to revise the recipes to be gluten-free. If you’re not familiar with his new show (began in 2008) called “Emeril Green,” check it out on the Planet Green channel. He has done a few shows already that focus on gluten-free and wheat-free meals. For the show I saw today, he cooked Chicken Etouffee, Skillet Cornbread, Pecan Pie and more. All of his recipes are listed on the show’s web site: Planet Green.
Tomorrow morning an episode about cooking for kids with wheat and nut allergies airs. Check your local listing for Planet Green or check out the “Channel Finder” on Planet Green to find if you get that channel.
Even if you don’t get Planet Green on your TV or can’t catch the show, you can watch him cook these recipes on your computer. Check out Emeril making gluten-free pizza! Or purchase the 2 disk set that includes all 10 episodes of the show – Emeril Green: Collection One (Episodes 1-10).
Do you live in the Washington D.C. area? Do you want to appear on a show with Emeril while he makes a gluten-free meal at Whole Foods? Email your food challenge to firstname.lastname@example.org along with your name, age, address, profession and picture of yourself. Who knows, maybe he can find that perfect gluten-free recipe for that one food you really miss eating on the GF diet.
