Gluten-Free Family Favorites – Menu Plan September 9

FamilyFavoritesThe Gluten-Free Menu Swap theme this week is Family Favorites. Visit Angela’s Kitchen for the roundup of gluten-free menus and family-favorite meals.

Can I say Family Favorites are my favorite meals to cook? Or, is that redundant? 🙂 Our favorites are usually simple, quick meals to prepare. Part of the reason it’s so quick for us, is that I make them often enough that I don’t have to use a recipe. I don’t have to watch over the cooking too closely because I already know what to expect. Basically, favorite meals are easy. And, with a busy family schedule, the only thing better than easy is knowing that the whole family will eat it!

In addition to the meals on this week’s menu, I would also include these as family favorites:

  • Hamburgers – make your own gluten-free buns or buy a gluten-free favorite (Udi’s)
  • Pulled Pork
  • Bacon-wrapped Chicken
  • Simple Grilled Chicken
  • Grilled Steaks
  • Roasted Chicken
  • Chicken Taquitos
  • Pork Tenderloin
  • and Leftover Night, because everyone gets to choose their favorites from the week!

For Breakfast, my kids often get to eat gluten-free pancakes and Chocolate Chip Banana Mini-Muffins. But, their favorites, which they would say I don’t make often enough, would be Beignets and Cinnamon Rolls.

[…] Pepper Stir Fry, Beef Tacos, Stuenkel Stew, and Traditional Minestrone .  Sounds delicious! * Heather at Celiac Family, has some fab things on here menu this week, like Gluten-Free Pizza Dogs with Zucchini […]

Our family favorites are for the same reason yours are. I love being able to just cook. No recipe needed. No hovering to make sure things come out right. It is easy to make and to eat.

I am interested in Chicken Taquitos. My husband loves them and I don’t know how to make them. I wind up buying them from Trader Joe’s as a treat for him. It would be nice to be able to make and freeze them for lunches or a snack.

I agree about family favorites. Easy on the cook, and everybody loves them – win, win! The teriyaki chicken tenders sound so good. How do you make yours?

Amanda – I use my slow-cooked Mexican Chicken for the filling of taquitos. Then, heat up the corn tortillas, roll up with the chicken and bake in the oven for 10 min. @350. I guess I need to write this up and put it on my recipes page.

Angela – Another recipe I should write up. I make the sauce on the stove, then pour over the chicken tenders in a baking dish, and bake about 20 min. @400.
