Menu Plan Monday August 3

menu-swap-009Wow, July was a crazy month for us! We were incredibly busy with family, travel, and house projects. Looks like we get a break only in travel for August. Family visits and house projects will continue. And, we’ll be preparing for the start of school next month: health check-ups, replenishing school supplies, finalizing school and after-school schedules, and stocking up on gluten-free snack foods. Too much to think about…. At least for now I have a menu plan for this week.

Monday – Pizza
Hoping to try a new recipe for a pizza crust from the new cookbook “Gluten Free Every Day” (More on that next week.)

Tuesday – Grilled Steaks
Grilling steaks and serving with baked potatoes and broccoli.

Wednesday – Chicken Makhani
Trying another new recipe this week: Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken) in the crockpot. I found the recipe at A Year of Slowcooking, and I’m looking forward to trying it.

Thursday – Leftovers
Need to clean out the refrigerator, so all the leftovers get pulled out for a make-your-own-meal buffet.

Friday – Garlic Shrimp Pasta
Simple supper of shrimp sauteed with butter and garlic and served over rice noodles.

SaturdayParmesan Chicken Nuggets
Serving chicken nuggets with Red Potato and Green Bean Salad.

Sunday – Burgers and Hot dogs
We’re hosting a celebration of family birthdays. Keeping it simple by grilling burgers and hot dogs, while other family members bring the side dishes. I’ll have to come up with some kind of yummy gluten-free birthday cake. 🙂

For more Gluten-Free Menus, visit this week’s Gluten-Free Menu Swap, hosted by Kim at Gluten-Free Is Life. Her theme this week is cherries, so be sure to check out her menu with Cherry Cake. Yum!  Thanks to Cheryl at Gluten Free Goodness for continuing to organize the Gluten-Free Menu Swap.

Laura at is taking a well-deserved break from hosting Menu Plan Monday this week. The Happy Housewife is filling in, so check it out for hundreds more menu plans (not necessarily gluten-free).

[…] at Celiac Family  has a great looking menu this week!  I can’t wait to hear how the pizza crust goes on […]

the indian butter chicken sounds yummy. I’ll have to try it when the weather gets cooler. thanks for the great event round up!

I’ve been meaning to make pizza dough! Is it very tricky? I kind of miss pizza & not being able to eat dairy makes the appearance of gluten-free options at pizza pizza not super-enticing.

No, making gf pizza dough doesn’t have to be tricky. There are lots of different recipes out there, some more time consuming than others. The tricky part is finding the one or two recipes that you like. Everyone likes their crust a little different. I’m afraid the one I’m trying this week has dairy in it, though.

Your to-do list looks like mine. Maybe I need to re-think my menu. 🙂 I think I was in denial when I made my plan.
The Indian chicken sounds good to me, too. Let us know how it turns out.

Sounds like a great menu. The garlic shrimp pasta is calling my name.
